Quality checks are done at different stages:

Process Control (Mould and core): Controls are exercised at sand preparation, Mould making, Core making Baking, Painting, Core setting and Mould closing. Mould Quality is checked for mould hardness and for visual defects like mould crack, soft ramming. Core quality is checked before sending to molding line for following aspects at various stages in core shop, core hardness and assembly as per methods.

Pouring Control: Preheated required capacity ladle is used for pouring metal. Test samples are cast for chemical analysis and physical testing. the castings undergo knockout operation after cooling for sufficient time. Sand Cleaning is done and 100% castings are inspected for foundry defects. We keep complete records of each melt. Depending upon requirement upto 30% of finish castings are random checked for hardness.

Raw Material Control: Incoming materials are checked for specification and then released for production.

Sand Control: Relevant properties of sand are checked in the lap.

Pre-melt Control: The raw material for each heat is pre-weighed to ensure correct composition limits as specified. A batch sample is taken, analyzed for carbon and other major elements and if necessary Ferro alloys are added to adjust the batch composition. The metal temperature is checked by means of an optical pyrometer. While tapping molten metal it is treated with inoculants to remove any slag element in the ladle.

To ensure dimensional accuracy samples are periodically drawn for making and dimensional backup.

From the raw material to final casting products, we monitor everything of sand casting and investment casting process.

CRITICAL CHECKS FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE ARE

Raw Materials Critical input materials are checked before acceptance & issue.
Pattern Inspection Critical dimensional inspection before release for sample production.
Pre–Pour Analysis & Process Control Each melt is pre–analyzed on spectrometer for confirming relevant specification. Tapping and pouring temperatures are confirmed before tapping and pouring using digital pyrometers.
Moulding sand Every moulding sand batch properties are checked for confirming relevant specification.
Heat–Treatment Heat treatment cycle is followed as per relevant specification.
Fettling & Machining Fettling/Machining is done as per customer specification & drawing.
Calibration All critical equipments for production & inspection are periodically calibrated for ensuring optimum efficiency and reliability of results.
